Salma Awan

Salma Awan (سلمی اعوان) is a well-known Pakistani Urdu novelist, short story writer, and travel writer based in Lahore. Widely recognized in Urdu literary circles, she has authored numerous short story collections portraying the everyday lives and struggles of ordinary women, alongside travelogues and literary profiles. Her book Aalmi Adab Ki Ferozan Qandeelein (The Radiant Lamps of World Literature) presents biographical portraits of celebrated literary figures from around the world, including Nizar Qabbani, Boris Pasternak, Alexander Pushkin, Leo Tolstoy, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Rumi, and Rabindranath Tagore. Salma Awan’s writing has appeared in leading Urdu literary journals, and her body of work is valued for combining accessible storytelling with cultural and literary depth. She continues to be an active and respected contributor to contemporary Urdu literature.
